Book vs Movie: Which is a Better Fit for You

Movies and books are two forms of entertainment that have been around for a long time, with books being the older of the two. They have entertained so many generations of people that they are almost always on anyone’s list of favorite things to do. The distinction between films and books is in how they tell the story.

Movies:

A movie is a story told through moving images captured by a camera. It employs a variety of styles and genres to tell a story that we can see and hear being performed by an actor or actress. Some films are even created by animating still images, such as cartoons. Some films are even made to teach us something or to raise awareness for a particular cause.

Books:

A book is basically any written, printed, or illustrated work that is either about a specific topic or a collection of topics. They are typically created for educational as well as artistic purposes. Books have been around longer than most forms of entertainment, and we have learned many stories from them. Books do not always contain fiction; some are instructional, while others tell the stories of real people.

As previously stated, movies and books are two forms of entertainment. Some people prefer one over the other, but they both have their advantages. Books are windows into any world, and the only limitation is one’s imagination. Books are also known to improve one’s vocabulary. Movies, on the other hand, can easily allow us to feel the emotion that the director wishes to convey due to the combination of visual and aural cues. They have the power to make us cry or laugh because we can clearly see, hear, and feel what is being portrayed. Books and movies have also been used for education and propaganda, but they are primarily used for entertainment.

In this age of fast-paced media consumption, it can be difficult to read a book for entertainment, just because there are a lot of new media being created every day. Books are not necessarily better than movies, if movies are watched in an attentive way where you end up learning something from them, it is a win. Also, the type of movies you choose to watch. If you want to learn about a historical event but do not have time to read a book about it, you can watch a movie. It’s not saying that movies replace books completely because depending on how deep you want to learn about the topic and for what reason, maybe a movie won’t satisfy that.
