According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, almost 43,000 animals died in and around East Palestine three weeks after the railway crash. According to Agency Director Mary Mertz, officers have been on site every day since the Feb. 3 accident of a Norfolk Southern train carrying dangerous chemicals, and they believe all of the fish killed as a result of the incident died instantly.
The accident killed 38,222 minnows and 5,550 other species, including fish, crayfish, and frogs, according to officials. The deaths happened within a five-mile radius of the impact location.

The earthquake in Turkey claimed the life of Christian Atsu, a forward for Ghana who also played for Newcastle and Chelsea in the Premier League. He was 31.
In the city of Antakya, Hatay Province, search teams discovered Atsu’s body in the wreckage of a luxurious 12-story building where he had been residing, according to his manager on Saturday.
“Atsu’s lifeless body was found under the rubble. At the moment, his belongings are still being removed,” manager Murat Uzunmehmet told private news agency DHA.

Authorities said that a shooter opened fire on Sunday along the route of a well-known Mardi Gras parade, leaving one person dead and four others injured. All 5 Ex-Memphis Officers Plead Not Guilty in the Beating Death of Tyre Nichols

Tyre Nichols, a 29-year-old Black man who died after being severely assaulted during a traffic stop last month, was charged with multiple crimes, including second-degree murder. Five former Memphis police officers were accused in his death. They entered not guilty pleas on Friday. The cops, Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Desmond Mills Jr., Emmitt Martin III, and Justin Smith, each waived the official reading of their indictments and entered pleas on their behalf in their first court appearance following their arrest. The cops, who were a part of the SCORPION Unit crime-fighting unit, were also accused of aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, official misconduct, and official oppression in addition to second-degree murder. They were detained on January 26 and have since posted bond.
