As we move through summer and June sadly almost comes to an end, I would like to share some of the ways I like to relax and destress that are specific both to the month of June and even July. Especially with all the stress and uncertainty in the world, I really turn to these few things that let me escape, if for a moment, and enjoy the summer season!
1.) Walking. I know I sound like a broken record since I talk about the benefits of walking a lot in my health and wellness articles, but it is for good reason. Ever since I decided to walk during the day, my anxiety, stress, and overall mood have steadily improved. Taking a break from whatever I’m doing and getting outside, walking has allowed me to see that what I am stressing over will pass. Like the changing of the seasons, nothing stays the same, good or bad. Instead, stress is a temporary state of mind and will pass with enough time. Walking has allowed me to see just that. And I hope it will help you to see that as well!
2.) Beach trip. Now, this does depend on where you are, but I find going to the beach very nice and relaxing. Similar to walking, going to the beach for me really allows me to see a different perspective to whatever is causing me stress at the moment. Getting out of the house and stepping into nature, I am allowed to see that not everything needs to be chaotic and in need of my attention. Instead, like the crashing waves, things are allowed to happen outside of my control, and I do not have to be upset about it.
3.) Attend a festival. Personally, I really enjoy the fun and slightly chaotic environment of a festival. Screaming, laughing, and running from everyone allows me to once again take a break from whatever is causing me stress and allows me to live in the moment. Depending on where you are, I would really suggest trying to attend a festival or even a carnival!
