Everyone says to eat healthy for a longer lifespan. It’s a simple diet change; you do have the power to change your diet if you so please. However, people often fail to recognize other people’s lives and everything that demands their time in place of a healthy diet.
Not everyone wants to cook a nutritionally balanced meal every single day. They might have had a long day of school or work; to some, cooking is a chore. Others may opt for takeout after spending time with friends, family, or alone; however, takeout food rarely contributes to a balanced diet unless a salad is chosen.
Fast food is one of the most convenient ways to get a meal within minutes; sometimes people might not have the time to make a whole meal before work or bed. I know I’ve only had 15 minutes in the past to buy and eat fast food before work.
Some people might be picky eaters; we’ve conditioned ourselves to like food engineered for taste and not nutrition. Vegetables are bland to many; it’s why so many children hate them.
Others might not have the commitment they need to stick to a balanced diet, just eating whatever’s around them for food. Maintaining a balanced diet means watching what nutrients you eat and holding a calorie limit.
Money can also be an issue since you have to plan out what you eat, buy the groceries to cook the food, and have the right cooking ware; not everyone can afford a high-quality grill or even pots and pans. There are balanced premade diet programs like Factor_, but few can afford the hundreds of dollars a week they cost.
We live in a country where convenience comes before nutrition and health, even if many take it seriously in the modern day. All of our convenient food options are unhealthy; healthy options are just more expensive unless you take the time to cook, but cooking requires time and ability that some people lack.
People frown on others who eat junk food a lot; it’s the obvious bad choice of food. It’s not like everyone has a choice; they may, but there’s a plethora of reasons both in and out of their control as to why people eat junk food.
