Carolina Herrera is a Venezuelan American fashion designer. Born in  Caracas, Venezuela, Herrera was introduced to the fashion world by her grandmother who took her to Balenciaga fashion shows.

Eventually Herrera committed to a career in fashion and began working as a publicist and in Emilio Pucci’s Caracas boutique before moving New York. There she became a mentee for Diana Vreeland, the then Editor-in-Chief of Vogue, who pushed her to open a clothing line, which she debuted within Manhattan’s Metropolitan Club.

After gaining recognition from multiple publications, and a showing at New York Fashion Week, Herrera gained many notable clients including Jacqueline Kennedy, Diana, Duchess of Cadaval, and more. Herrera’s brand has expanded out from clothing, to fragrances, accessories like scarfs, and even eyewear.
