Cristiano Ronaldo to Return to Manchester United

Yet another big development arises in the transfer window this year, Cristiano Ronaldo will be returning to Manchester United, the club where he became a star. The 36-year-old star is returning to Old Trafford 12 years after leaving to join Real Madrid in a €15 million deal with a potential further €8 million in add-ons.

Yesterday, it was revealed that Ronaldo wants out of Juventus, asking the club to be sold. He also did not train with Juventus on Friday. Manager Max Allegri confirmed it this morning as well, saying that the player no longer has any intention to play for the club. Since then we have seen Manchester City and Manchester United become the frontrunners for the Portugal player. Subsequently, we concurred that Man City backed out of the race, paving the way for Ronaldo’s sensational return to Manchester United.

The club announced the move on Twitter by posting a collage of Ronaldo’s older days in the club with the caption “Welcome home, @Cristiano.” Ronaldo left the team back in 2009, joining Real Madrid for a then world record fee of €80 million. Talks between Ronaldo, United, and Juventus began on Thursday night, according to ESPN.

“I gave my heart and soul for Juventus and I’ll always love the city of Turin until my final days,” says Ronaldo in a heartfelt message he posted on Instagram. “I will always be one of you. You are now part of my history, as I feel that I’m part of yours. Italy, Juve, Turin, tiffosi bianconeri, you’ll always be in my heart.”
