Tahliah Debrett Barnett, aka FKA Twigs, is a popular English singer-songwriter, record producer, actor, and dancer. Born in Cheltenham, England, Twigs developed an interest in art and music at a young age, taking various opera and ballet lessons, and even participating in productions at St Edward’s School.

Twigs took her dancing seriously at age 17 when she moved to South London and enrolled at the BRIT school, and at the same time began working on music with local producers. Twigs would gain entry into the industry as a backup dancer in music videos from artists like Kylie Minogue, Plan B, Ed Sheeran, Taio Cruz, and more.

In 2012, Twigs would create the stage name she is now professionally known for and self-release her first extended play that December. Following a good amount of positive reception, she would release her second extended play through the Young Turks record label in September 2013, gaining her even more attention and a spot on Billboard’s 14 Artists to Watch in 2014.

Twigs’ first mainstream success was the debut of her studio album, LP1, in August 2024. The success of that album would lead to appearances on BBC’s Later… with Jools Holland and her US debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Twigs won many fans over with her soft vocals and heavy-hitting lyrics.

Twigs has collaborated with a multitude of popular artists, including Future, Aign, Rema, Asap Rocky, Jorja Smith, and more. With four studio albums released and millions of streams and views on Spotify and YouTube, FKA Twigs’s popularity will only climb.
