I go on vacations in the summer with my mom and grandma, and in the past when heading to Branson MO, we stopped at a place called the world’s biggest candy store. Now this store had everything candywise and candy that you can’t find anywhere else such as sugar daddies and those rootbeer hard candies that taste so much like rootbeer.
I love regular souvenirs, don’t get me wrong, a t-shirt from a cave I visited or a license plate with my name on it, but something about snacks that are from that certain area makes all the difference, because you can remember the different tastes of the places that you went. Sometimes it’s as simple as trying a mom and pop shop that has special candy from that special shop or even just a cookie in the shape of a zoo animal.
There is a snack that I can only get from a certain store and anytime we see that store, while traveling, especially out of state, and when I get a hold of it I get really excited. It’s a white cheddar popcorn from a store called Family Dollar.
When I went to visit my fiancé, in NC, there was a place called Sheets that we ate at and it was a really cool place and had different snacks and stuff that you couldn’t get anywhere in Illinois. I really enjoyed eating at places I have never been to even if it’s just a nice gas station. Something about eating in a new place is exciting but sometimes it makes me wary because I have issues with GI problems.
It’s not just snacks though sometimes it is restaurants that I have been to in the past and when I see one in a place I am going to on a road trip I get excited. Like a place called Hu Hot is only in Saint Louis and a handful of other locations and it’s one of my favorite places to eat.
Food is always more enjoyable with friends and family!
