“The Lucky Baseball,” written by one of the New York Yankees’ most beloved former batboys Luis Castillo, follows a lonely baseball who wants to be a part of all the fun and comradery that America’s favorite pastime has to offer. After being left on the side of the field to watch all the neighborhood kids play, the baseball was found by a young boy named Derek, who named him Squeegee and became his first friend. Derek and Squeegee journey out to the big leagues where Squeegee has the chance to get in on the action and save the day.
I was excited to receive a copy of Luis “Squeegee” Castillo’s new children’s book, “The Lucky Baseball,” from NYC Tastemaker’s founder, John “Gungie” Rivera. It is a quick and enjoyable read, perfect for getting kids excited about the game of baseball. The illustrations are so colorful and fun with adorable characters like Squeegee the baseball, Coney, Strawberry, and more. This story clearly illustrates the importance of believing in yourself to make your dreams a reality. “The Lucky Baseball” is captivating, inspiring, and uplifting as kids are encouraged to pursue their dreams with perseverance and dedication.
