New Artist to Watch: D-Pryde

If you haven’t heard his music, you should Toronto native, Filipino rapper D-Pryde is turning heads in the hip hop world and he’s only 17. Being that he’s relatively new to mainstream, here’s a quick introduction to his rise to stardom. Similar to Wiz Khalifa’s start, D-Pryde built a fanbase on his own through videos and freeverses on Youtube, amazing listeners with his versatile flow, his wordplay and his original content. After being picked up by DJ Suss One to be the flagship artist for his new “Mars Music Group”, D-Pryde released his Mars Mixtape on DatPiff.com on June 3rd, blowing away all other competition and quickly reaching 25K downloads in a few days. Having already collaborated with Joe Budden, and with Fat Joe closely following his progress, D-Pryde is making a name for himself and for Mars early in the game. In his songs, D-Pryde talks about representing Asian people in hip hop, haters, friends turned enemies, his family, and his admiration of his dreams unfolding before him. A bit nerdy and different from your typical emcee, give him a listen and let us know what you think!
