The New England Patriots are set to unveil a statue for recently retired football player Tom Brady, who officially ended his 20-year NFL career during his Wednesday induction into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame. Brady’s Hall of Fame ceremony was packed with fans and supporters. The 12-foot-tall statue will be revealed for the first time during the 2024 season and placed just outside the Patriots Hall of Fame. Additionally, Brady announced the retirement of his number 12 jersey.
“It is the honor of my life to take my place among these other Patriot Hall of Famers and to be officially enshrined into the winning legacy of this amazing organization,” said Brady. “You humble me, you make me proud, and I am eternally grateful. I am Tom Brady, and I am a Patriot.”
Born in San Mateo, California, Tom Brady began his professional NFL career in 2000 with the New England Patriots. Since then, he has been considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, helping the Patriots win seven Super Bowl titles.
Brady has won numerous prestigious awards, including Super Bowl MVP, NFL Most Valuable Player, NFL Offensive Player of the Year, First-team All-Pro, and many more. Former Patriots coach Bill Belichick and rival Peyton Manning were among the many influential figures who gave Brady their well wishes.
“Thank you for all that you’ve done for us. Thank you for all you’ve done for me. And thank you for the example and model that you’ve been for all of us, daily, for 20 years,” said Belichick. “You’re unbelievable.”
Following his NFL career, Brady began his transition toward sports broadcasting. Starting in the 2024 season, Brady will become a lead sports commentator on Fox this September. He had initially announced his career change in late January 2024. With a 10-year contract worth $375 million, Brady is set to become the highest-paid sports commentator in NFL history.
“The important part for me is how do I continue to make it fun for people to enjoy the viewing experience,” said Brady.
