SORRY

He’s sorry, he pleaded.
He’s sorry for the hurt he caused.
He’s sorry for the tears he made her shed.
He’s sorry for the lost nights of sleep, the long phone calls, the broken communication.

He’s sorry, he pleaded.
She was sorry too, because one day, this would happen again.
And that was something she couldn’t handle.
Suddenly his sorry wasn’t enough.
Are words just words when you are whispering them to the person you love?
