Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson on Friday will receive the Presidential Citizens Medal, one of the nation’s highest civilian honors, for her role overseeing the 2020 election and defending it against efforts to overturn the result. President Joe Biden, who won the election, will host a ceremony at the White House on the second anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. Supporters of former President Donald Trump broke down barriers and entered the Capitol in an attempt to stop Congress from certifying Biden’s election.

Mary J. Blige Honored at Billboard Music Awards
R&B and Hip Hop star and 10-time Billboard Music Award winner, Mary J. Blige, was honored and presented with the Icon Award at the 2022 BBMAs on Sunday night. The award was given to her by the former Icon Award recipient, Janet Jackson. Before she was awarded the Icon award, Blige performed at the award show, taking place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, which ended in standing ovations.

The New York Yankees tweeted, “The New York Yankees today announced that they have acquired infielder Josh Donaldson, infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa and catcher Ben Rortvedt from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for catcher Gary Sánchez and infielder Gio Urshela.”
