Singer and entertainer, Astrud Gilberto who appeared on the song The Girl from Ipanema was confirmed dead at the of 83. Her rise to fame happened overnight for knowing just enough English to be featured on the classic bossa nova album.
Gilberto has been was awarded a GRAMMY, Lifetime Achievement Award, and inducted into the International Latin Music Hall of Fame.
