He spoke at a Democratic National Committee Rally in Maryland yesterday in front of a crowd of supporters and a “Building A Better America” sign next to his podium, countering Trump’s signature “Make America Great Again” slogan.

Today, President Joe Biden will be returning to the campaign trail, as he is set to speak at Richard Montgomery High School in Washington D.C. as a featured speaker at a rally, held by the Democratic National Committee. Not long after the passage of the hefty Inflation Reduction Act, in which the federal government is spending hundreds of billions of dollars to combat climate change and lower inflation in the US, Biden announced his next plan to spend around $500 billion for a new student loan handout.

Over 11,000 cases of Monkeypox have now been recorded in the US, with the largest number of individuals infected residing in California, Florida, and New York. Since the first case was detected in Massachusetts on May 18th, this disease has now spread across the country and CDC officials have shared that it may be too late to significantly stop the spread. The Jynneos vaccine, which was developed in 2019 to prevent monkeypox and smallpox, is now being administered in certain areas to those who are over 18 years old and meet certain criteria.

Washington DC’s Cherry Blossoms Reach Peak Bloom This Week

For most north-eastern Americans, a tell-tale sign that spring has arrived is the annual blooming of the cherry blossom trees in Washington DC. This year, the National Cherry Blossom Festival, which has both virtual and in-person events will be held from March 20th to April 17th. Although the festival goes on for four weeks, March 22nd to 25th have been predicted by the National Park Service (NPS) as the peak bloom dates. Meaning about 70% of the pretty pink flowers will be open, these dates are a bit earlier than the average peak date, April 4th.

President Joe Biden’s pick for the Supreme Court, Ketanji Brown Jackson, who will take the place of retiring judge Stephen Breyer, paid homage to one of her role models over the weekend during her opening statement at her confirmation hearing Constance Baker Motley, the first black female federal judge in the United States. Motley was the first black woman to argue cases in a federal court.
