Tommy Fury Welcomes Rematch with Jake Paul

Last Sunday, Jake Paul tasted defeat for the first time in his career after losing against Tommy Fury by a split decision in an 8-round fight in Saudi Arabia. Although both fighters had their moments, Fury was superior in his technique, accuracy, and output, resulting in two judges giving Fury the fight with the same 76-73 score, while the third official had it 75-74 for Paul.

As part of the contract for the fight, Paul added a clause to allow him to demand an immediate rematch, which seems to be what he wants. As he mentioned after the fight, “I think we deserve that rematch.”

Paul also claimed he had issues in training camp which caused him to feel flat, “I felt flat. I got sick really bad twice in this camp, injured my arm. This wasn’t my best performance, but that’s no excuse,” he said.

For his part, Fury said that he encountered no surprises. “At the end of the day, he was very similar to what I watched on tape,” he sentenced.

After having faced heavy criticism over the past two years for allegedly avoiding an encounter with Jake Paul, with people accusing him of not really having any intention of fighting Paul, he now felt relieved not only to have fought him but also to have won.

“It’s just the best feeling in the world because, over the past two and a half years, this is all that’s consumed my life. Walking out in public, ‘you backed out of two fights, you’re scared of Jake Paul, you’re not a real fighter.’ Tonight, I showed everybody that I ain’t scared of no one, and I can cut it at the big dance,” he said.

When asked about a possible rematch, he said he is 100 percent on board and that he also hopes to improve upon his performance to provide a more definitive and devastating finish he had promised for this fight.

“At the end of the day, this was my first main event. The world was watching this fight. I have that experience behind me now. So when I go into another big dance like this, I’ll have this behind me, and I’ll know how to cope with it,” he confirmed.

“Having been in the ring with Jake once, I’m pretty sure I can get the stoppage next time,” Fury said.
