Fashion Designer of the Month for March 2026
Willy Chavarria is an American fashion designer. Born in Huron, California, Chavarria attended the Academy of Art University in San Francisco for graphic design. During his schooling, he worked at the Joe Boxer shipping department, working on designs after hours. Eventually, he would secure an internship with Canadian fashion designer Nicholas Graham at Joe Boxer, until he advanced to an official designer role at Joe Boxer. Eventually, he would take a role at Voler, where he would collaborate on the Ralph Lauren cycling apparel line RLX in 1999.
Chavarria would eventually open the menswear Palmer Trading Company alongside David Ramirez, and in 2015, he would found his eponymous label. There, he would enrapture fashion, politics, and heritage into various male apparel. Many of his designs have been seen on fashion weeks in New York, Paris, and more. Some of his work was also featured in exhibits at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2019.
Currently, Chavarria is senior vice president of design at Calvin Klein and CEO of his eponymous label.
