Biden Issues Preemptive Pardons

On his way out of the White House Monday, President Biden issued pardons to Fauci, Milley, and Jan. 6 committee staffers.

“Many are guilty of major crimes!” Trump told NBC News reporter Kristen Welker.

A pardon is an expression of the President’s forgiveness granted in recognition of the applicant’s acceptance of responsibility for a crime. Many of those pardoned

Among those pardoned, Dr. Anthony Fauci is the former Chief Medical Advisor to the President of the United States. Fauci was director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health for many years including during Trump’s term in office.

President Biden’s decision was mainly due to President Trump warning he had made an ‘enemies list’ of all the people who have crossed him or going against him when he tried to overturn his loss in the 2020 election.

President Biden emphasized that these pardons should not be taken as an admission of guilt by those being pardoned but simply a protective measure against Donald Trump.

“The issuance of these pardons should not be mistaken as an acknowledgment that any individual engaged in any wrongdoing, nor should acceptance be misconstrued as an admission of guilt for any offense,” Biden said in a statement.

Other of President Biden’s pardons include retired Gen. Mark Milley. Milley is the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and focused on modernizing the army during his time there.

It’s not unusual for a President to use every last bit of their power before they have to vacate the White House. It’s also not unusual for a president to use executive power to show leniency to those who have been convicted of a crime. However, it is unusual to offer pardons to individuals not convicted of a crime.

Everyone listed in Biden’s pardons has crossed President Trump politically. In the book “War” by Bob Woodward, Milley was quoted calling Trump a “fascist to the core” and “the most dangerous person to this country.”

It seems President Biden’s pardons are truly an act of protection toward those who have wronged his opponent, President Trump.
