Avengers: Doomsday Filming to Begin March 2025

A new installment in the Avengers franchise is set to begin filming in the next month. Avengers: Doomsday is the fifth film in Marvel’s Avengers franchise and will be the first appearance of the beloved. superhero team since the 2019 release of Avengers: Endgame.

While little has been said concerning the movie’s plot since its announcement at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, its filming is officially scheduled to begin next month in March.  Returning to direct the film and its sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, Joe and Anthony Russo. Both brothers are veteran directors within the Marvel Cinematic Universe who have directed popular films including  Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers Endgame.

Captain America star Anthony Mackie gave a hint at what fans can expect in the upcoming film during a recent promo interview.

“I think for me, I’m really excited about the idea of old meeting new,” said Mackie. “The OG original cast members of the MCU and all the new people coming together to form this massive conglomerate…”

As for the film’s cast, the lineup is still largely inconclusive and won’t be definitive until filming is set to begin So far those that are returning include Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Thing and Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. 

Additionally, several actors from the new Thunderbolts movie will make an appearance.

More information will likely be revealed in the upcoming months when filming is well underway. That said, Marvel fans will have more than enough content to tide them over before the film’s release next year. 

Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on May 1, 2026, and its sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, is set to release on May 7, 2027.
