Trump Awards Teen Secret Service Title After Beating Cancer

DJ Daniels was seemingly given a bad hand in life when he was diagnosed with brain cancer back in 2018. He was given only five months left to live, but he pressed on to beat cancer and live far beyond what doctors expected. His dream has always been to be a police officer, and his dreams were fulfilled last week during Trump’s address to Congress.

The 13-year-old boy was applauded when introduced during the address and was held up high by his father. The president acknowledged his continuous victories over his illness and made DJ an honorary agent of the Secret Service. This was a wholesome moment for everyone tuned in to the court as DJ held up his ID in pride. It was a nice gesture to someone who has gone through so much.

Although this moment was well received, that isn’t to say there was no such drama afterward. Many Republicans and viewers were quick to point out that a number of representatives in the Democratic party were found sitting down in silence during the announcement. The video footage reveals this inaction, leaving many people confused and disturbed.

Of course, Democrats are very much opposed to Trump and many of his policies, including his support of police funding. Perhaps this reasoning explains the lack of enthusiasm, or even they perceive this as a way for Trump to garner empathy during troubled times. Regardless of whether these claims are true, it doesn’t take away from the fact that DJ was able to achieve his dream. Not standing or clapping for something like that is petty and has only served to paint them in a bad light.

Fortunately, most people can see beyond the issues and celebrate achievements that everyone can get behind. Hopefully, DJ will enjoy his new title and prove to others that anything is possible!
