There comes a point when the question is no longer whether an administration is doing right for their party or different ideologies; it’s about basic human decency. The Trump administration has not only crossed a line, but it has also destroyed the line.
From the beginning, the Trump administration’s approach to governance has been a disregard for facts, human decency, and the democratic institutions that hold this nation together. However, recent actions have made one clear: the administration has gone too far.
Let’s start with the border crisis and deportation. Deporting criminals who are a danger to society is one thing; deporting college students for things like speeding tickets or urinating in public is a whole other thing. The Trump administration has been canceling student visas for minimal crimes, with over 1,000 students being deported. Is wanting an education a crime to the Trump administration?
Even more disturbing is their relentless attack on the very foundations of our democracy. The refusal to accept the 2020 results? The baseless claims of voter fraud and the incitement of violence on January 6? These were not actions of a leader but of someone trying to cling to their power at any cost.
Trump’s administration and followers have consistently blamed the media for spreading “fake news” or pushing an agenda against Trump, but these claims are also baseless. There are biased newspapers on both sides of the media; you have Fox News on one side and CNN on the other; no one can claim that one political view has a monopoly over the media.
We can’t ignore the injustices the Trump administration is doing to innocent people. They have shown us how fragile our democracy is when it is led by someone who does not respect it, and now we have to repair what has been broken. Let’s start with the truth and treat people with empathy, justice, and respect.
