Now that Micheal B. Jordan’s new film “Sinners,” has been released, he has been thinking about what project he wants to work on next and during an interview with New York Magazine, he stated that he was interested in directing and producing a live action anime film adaptation. Jordan has been known to be a big fan of anime as a medium, stating that his film “Creed III,” had many fight scenes that were directly inspired by anime.
Jordan also has several anime in mind for possible adaptations if he does go forward with the idea of adapting anime into film. One of which being “Fate/Stay Night,” which is a visual novel released in 2004 by the company Type Moon, and written by Japanese author Kinoko Nasu. The anime’s base premise is that there is a competition called the holy grail war where seven heros from the past, such as the likes of King Arthur and Heracles, are summoned to fight to the death. Many praise the anime for its stellar animation as well as the way it delves into the trope of a hero and what it means to be one. “Fate/Stay Night,” also happens to be part of a wider connected universe shared between Nasu’s other works such as “Tsukihime,” “The Garden of Sinners” and “Witch on the Holy Night,” which are all ripe with potential for Jordan to adapt for the big screen.
Jordan also mentions the anime “Fire Force,” stating that he’s been enjoying the new season of the show. “Fire Force,” is set in a post-apocalyptic world where special forces known as the Fire Brigade face off against monsters known as Infernals. Written by Japanese manga artist Atsushi Ohkubo, “Fire Force,” is widely popular due to its creative power system and its spectacular battles, with a wide variety of creative characters. It is also a prequel to another of Ohkubo’s works, “Soul Eater,” which could also be a good pick for Jordan to adapt as it is packed with potential as well as a widely vast cast of interesting characters.
