Things have not been so good for the New York Knicks, as they are still searching for a new head coach to take over. Even during this period of uncertainty, Kevin Durant has made it clear that he would be willing to join the Knicks during the off-season. Despite this seeming like an incredible offer, the team has stated that they have no interest in Durant.
Turning down Durant is an interesting move, given how talented he is and the potential he would have with the roster. Of course, it would be shortsighted to believe there were no good reasons for this refusal. One potential reason is that the Knicks already have a solid lineup for the season. Throwing in a new player might make a mess with their strategies. Another thing to consider is that the Knicks would have to make a favorable trade to get Kevin, which again might mess up the current composition and the team’s chemistry with each other. Plus, the Knicks already have their hands full with finding a replacement coach, so they might not be in the mood to make further changes.
Even with all these reasons, it’s still difficult to fully justify giving up a potential trade. Kevin Durant is the crown jewel of the Phoenix Suns for his leadership and scoring skills. A great number of people claim he is the best player in the NBA. Even if the Knicks reconsidered their choice, the other teams are already offering trades to Durant. At this point, we can only guess if the Knicks made the right choice or if it was a huge mistake.
