The Jets were more than pleased to have Justin Fields be their newest quarterback. The team and fans have been excited to see Justin go through the training camp and come back with all the knowledge needed to become an asset. However, with Justin going through some problems during his training, some people are concerned if this forebodes future issues for the Jets.
The training so far has not shown Fields in the best light when it comes to his offensive capabilities. Many of his throws were intercepted, and he himself was sacked a couple of times during camp. He also always had a bad habit of holding onto the ball for too long, which still seems to haunt him.
The Jets have taken up for Justin and omitted the struggles for being something that will be worked on. It’s too early to judge his abilities now, as there are bound to be growing pains with starting fresh with a new team. However, the Jets do need to keep his weaknesses in mind so that they can at least be aware of them when the time comes. If they can get Justin to stop holding the ball, I think we would see a great improvement in his critical thinking and instincts.
In the end, we can’t expect things to immediately work out with training. Justin is there for a reason and will need time to get used to everything. All the Jets can do now is be patient and let their boys put in the work.
