New Soccer Stadium Coming to Long Island

That’s right, soccer fans, as part of the Willets Point redevelopment project in Queens, a brand-new soccer stadium is set to be constructed. The stadium is set to be the new home of the New York City Football Club (NYCFC). The stadium, which has been named Etihad Park, is set to be finished and opened in 2027.

Etihad Park is expected to have a maximum capacity of 25,000 people and will cost approximately $780 million to construct. Etihad Park is set to be the first fully electric stadium in Major League Soccer. Etihad Park has been set up to be the first of its kind in New York City.

The construction of Etihad Park comes as part of a bigger initiative, the initiative being the Willets Point redevelopment project. The Willets Point redevelopment project (WPRP) is set to construct over 2,500 new units for housing, a hotel, a public space, retail and commerce areas, and a public school.

The soccer stadium serves as the centerpiece for the redevelopment project, a great attraction to help the area grow with the stadium. This project is one of the largest redevelopment projects in the last 40 years and is set to keep New York moving forward into the future rather than remaining static and content with its success.

With many people wanting to move to New York City, housing has been a constant issue that the city has always struggled to meet the demand for. Hopefully, with the WPRP and the construction of Etihad Park, the new income and housing can keep New York City healthy and able to keep expanding and taking in newcomers.
