It’s no question that President Donald Trump’s relationship with a substantial chunk of the American population is far from peachy, and his recent actions have expanded the cracks within the relationship even further. Getting the entire country on one accord is an insurmountable feat for anyone as political and social differences create strong division amongst the various communities that inhabit the U.S., but a lack of good leadership only makes matters worse and throws any hopes of the country turning things around right out of the window.
Trump’s recent decision to go to war with Iran is as polarizing as ever—-and American citizens are making their objections loud and clear. I think we can all agree that no one asked for this war to happen, and despite the country’s reservations of getting involved in a potential third world war, the president had already made up his mind as his eyes were set on attacking Iranian forces. With the safety of the world hanging by a thread at the threat of nuclear war, the decision to order a missile attack was an interesting one, and it has now left the American people in fear of what’s to come next.
Most Americans agree that the decision to go to war was not necessary and that the United States’s feud with Iran was not a battle that Americans needed to fight. President Trump has stated otherwise, and has sacrificed the lives of U.S. soldiers, showing little to no compassion to those who have lost their lives over the course of the last week and a half.
And while many believe that Trump’s decision to go to war is completely unhinged, it wouldn’t be the first time that his selfishness created chaos and turmoil within the country.
Let’s not forget that Trump has heavily encouraged the detainment of immigrants through pushing the ICE agenda and stripping individuals from their families. He has cast fear in the minds and hearts of many, and has pushed to make America a less inclusive and diverse country by the day.
President Trump also defended the riot that took place at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021 by deeming it as a protest against a “rigged” election. His inability to condemn the acts of violence make it clear that chaos is not something that he is willing to shy away from.
And now with the U.S. kicking off what could be another brutal and grueling war that could potentially claim thousands and thousands of lives, Americans are dreading the upcoming days as Trump’s stubbornness continues to dig a deeper hole for the U.S. The disconnect is growing at an exponential rate as Trump’s approval rating is sinking by the day, and his relationship with the people is now at an a abysmal low.
