When it comes to college education, I know how expensive tuition can be, and if you can’t pay it off with financial aid, you’ll need to get scholarships and maybe even a loan. Some families can’t even afford to send their children to college because it’s so expensive in the United States. When it comes to higher education, I think everyone should have equal rights. If countries in Europe can offer free education, why can’t the United States?
There are no laws right now stating free college, but there are several proposals that exist. The College For All Act states that it would eliminate tuition and other fees for a 4-year public college tuition-free for all students. The Debt Free College Act proposes grants so students may go to college in-state without a fee.
Unfortunately, neither of these acts was approved, and several Americans are still not able to attend college. Now I think if college education were free, it would help the uneducated be able to attend and get a better job. However, I think it would also attract people outside of the U.S., so they can also benefit from free education. I think that as long as they are a legal citizen, they have a right to benefit from this Act.
I don’t think it will become a thing anytime soon, mostly because the U.S is in severe debt. However, a lot of states do offer programs to get free education, although you must be a resident of that state, so nobody outside of the state can attend and get those benefits.
This topic may be a little controversial, but it’s necessary, and unlike gun and drug laws, making school free would be harmless and would only be a benefit, as there would be no risk of dying from getting free college. I hope one day free college will become a thing, maybe not in my lifetime, but the younger generation needs motivation to continue their education, and maybe if they could go for free, they would be encouraged to do great things.
