NJ Governor To Announce 770 Free World Cup Tickets For NJ Soccer Fans

Free tickets to a select number of New Jersey residents are on their way, according to Governor Mikie Sherrill.

The announcement was made at the Hackensack University Medical Center by Governor Sherrill on Tuesday morning, who explained that 770 non-transferable World Cup tickets will be distributed freely to select New Jersey residents. This announcement comes weeks after NYC Mayor Mamdani announced 1,000 $50 tickets for New York City residents.

“We are excited to welcome the world to the Garden State for the World Cup starting this week and to be at the very center of the festivities, but we want the experience, first and foremost, to be accessible and affordable for as many New Jerseyans as possible…” said Sherrill.

According to the announcement, the tickets will be broken into three groups. 500 of the 770 tickets will go to youth soccer clubs, families of state National Guard members deployed overseas, and Bergen County first responders assisting with the World Cup.

200 of the 770 tickets will be distributed to frontline nurses, health care workers, hospital pediatric patients, and children facing serious illnesses by Hackensack. Lastly, the last 70 tickets will go to people who used the “Welcome World Rewards” program and supported local small businesses during the World Cup.

Those who are among the selected can retrieve their tickets when they are distributed at MetLife Stadium during the seven World Cup matches held there, but not at the final.
