Increasing finances is something in a growing and inflated economy that has become more and more important as time goes on. In this world, money has become everything and is needed for anything. Most people work jobs and have careers in which they trade their talents and time for money, and some people like to take more riskier approaches to making money.
Gambling is the act of risking money with the hope of winning more money through different means. Sports betting is one of these means; a version of gambling people indulge in. Sports betting itself is the act of predicting sports games or statistics and placing a money bet on the outcome of the games, players, or stats.
Over the last six years, sports betting has grown exponentially in the rates it is done. With the shifting economy, more money is needed, and gambling and sports betting have always been a way for people to “get rich quick”. But now it’s become less normal to not bet on sports than it is to indulge in it.
A major reason for this is the over-production of sports betting apps and the over-consumption of sports betting advertisements on social media. It is almost impossible to scroll on anything without seeing ads for DraftKings or Prizepicks, especially when content creators online opt to promote these apps and sites on their platforms.
Sports betting has changed the dynamic on how sports are viewed, and I am one to say it for myself; I absolutely despise it. Sports betting is absolutely killing sports in all forms, whether it be ball-based sports or the esports scene as well. It takes all the love and enjoyment from actually watching the games themselves and pivots all the focus to one’s own gain and loss from the games being played.
And with sports betting and gambling as a whole being forced down the throats of everyone in the world, not just by the apps but by the sports leagues themselves, it is slowly deteriorating and destroying the beauty these sports have held for so long. People no longer watch out of love; they instead watch out of their pockets.
