When you go to any store that has clothes you want to see your options. You want to make sure it fits if you are tall or short or fits your body type such as fit, skinny, or chubby. But when you are trans it’s a bit different especially if you are in the middle of transitioning because what their usual size is can change overtime because of the hormones that change what your body looks like.
Transgender deserve to be able to look at a chart of the outfit on various types visually so they can see what size would work for them best. A woman’s large or a man’s 32 doesn’t tell much. You need to know things like bust size, shoulders, waist and more to be able to know what works for you specifically
Visual charts are helpful for anyone regardless of gender, because seeing a picture of what you look like can help you choose the right size. Standard sizing charts assume that gender identity, body proportions and sizing all line up to one way and it doesn’t.
Ordering clothing online makes it even more difficult if the sizing charts are off, especially if you are ordering something from a different country, such as Japan, because everything there runs much smaller. Like you would have to order a large even if you wear a small because people are smaller there.
This doesn’t have to have separate special “trans sizes” either because everyone is different so there wouldn’t even be a traditional trans size that fits all of them. A good description would say that it is a relaxed clothing, tell the measurements of each area and it gives information based on the actual clothing and not assuming that a male or female is wearing it.
It would also reduce unnecessary returns to the store if they were labeled correctly and with more details. It needs to not emphasize certain areas as well as to not have attention to certain areas that could make anyone, especially a transgender person, uncomfortable.
Clothes shopping needs to be enjoyable, and not stressful or complicated!
