A Major Snowstorm is Headed for the East Coast This Week

Multiple governors across the East Coast are advising residents to be careful while outside for the next few days as a major snowstorm is growing closer to land. On Tuesday, the mayor of New York City, Bill de Blasio, held a briefing to tell residents: “This is going to be a serious storm – and people need to take it seriously”. The city is facing up to a foot of snow and adjacent states could be looking at even more than that.

Charlie Baker, Massachusetts governor, is also urging residents to be careful. He says the state will be distributing 3,800 pieces of snow clearing equipment to prepare for the storm. The storm is projected to reach as far south as North Carolina and as far west as Ohio. The New Jersey governor has already declared a state of emergency. The East Coast region could also be facing power outages due to high winds. State officials in Pennsylvania say they are prepared to handle any impact the storm might have on the distribution of the newly approved COVID-19 vaccine.
