With the rise in popularity and prevalence, it seems that almost everywhere, companies are trying to incorporate the use of artificial intelligence. Especially with popular platforms such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and even Walmart, every company wants to hop on the bandwagon and profit from the use of AI. And now it is even reaching towards the music and entertainment industry.
Within the professional music business, a few companies have begun to use new AI technology to create music without incorporating the talents of real musicians. Using “AI Artist” instead, many record labels have been sadly relying on the use of AI with the hopes of discovering new voices. Such companies, like ElevenLabs and Hallwood Media, are a few record labels that are using AI artists, rather than using the talent and skills of real artists.
In a word where everything is becoming digitalized and artificial, I thought that the music industry would not rely on artificial intelligence to “fix” or “enhance” the musica genre. Instead of relying on the genuine and real emotions of real artists, the music industry is able to thrive and succeed because of the realness and authenticity of skilled singers and musicians. Sounding perfect and polished was never what made music beautiful, but rather the raw and earnest emotion of the performer. And AI could never copy that. No matter how hard they try.
Who wants to listen to a robotic, artificial, and tone-death song? Not me! And I can guarantee that many people won’t want to either if that is where the music industry is headed.
