If you are a father with young children, you may want to watch some Disney movies with your tiny kiddos, and the ones that I find have a good father figure, or are sacrifices that someone made for their dad, are a good start.
Mulan is about a young woman from China who, to save her father from having to go to war, dresses up as a man and joins the army in his place. In the end, her father thanks her and is very grateful, and she is even granted the title of hero of China because she helped win the war.
Another one would be Finding Nemo. A young father, who is a clownfish, struggles to find his missing son. He goes to great lengths to find him and travels far away, and finds friends along the way. He learns that even someone who has a disability, like his son’s fin, can still be brave and do new things.
Onward would be my next choice as it shows two brother’s who lost their dad. They find out there is a spell that could bring him back for a day, but it only worked halfway. In the end, they finally figure out how to make him whole and get a few last moments again with their father.
The Lion King and The Lion King 2 are classics that are very father eccentric. Although young simba loses his dad in the beginning of the film, in the 2nd one he becomes a dad himself and struggles to not be over protective and let his daughter live her life even as an adult.
Cheaper by the Dozen is also a classic and has big stars like Hilary Duff and Steve Martin. It’s about a family who had 12 children and the struggles they have to face as a family when they have to make a big move. Steven Martin plays the father and is pretty great at it as he can fix conflicts between siblings and do whatever he can to keep them happy.
I hope you enjoy these movies as much as I did!
