Over the weekend, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris visited various areas throughout the country that have been affected by the recent hurricanes.
Joe Biden took an “aerial tour” of St. Petersburg and Tampa and saw the demolition caused by Hurricane Milton last week. He then detailed some of the measures the federal government will implement to help Florida to the best of its ability.
Biden said in his declaration, “It’s in moments like this we come together to take care of each other, not as Democrats or Republicans, but as Americans, Americans who need help, who would help you if you were in the same situation. We are one United States. Thankfully, the storm impact was not as cataclysmic as we’d predicted, but for some individuals, it was cataclysmic…entire neighborhoods were flooded and millions without power.”
Harris had a campaign rally later in the afternoon Sunday in Greenville, NC. She began this rally by thanking those who are helping in hurricane relief, although the rally took place miles away from where Hurricane Helene. She then rapidly shifted to this year’s election saying, “I’m going to tell you, it’s going to be a tight race until the very end…and we are running as the underdog, so we have some hard work ahead of us. But we like hard work.”
She was sure to remind people that there were less than 30 days left until the election and that they were now entering the “home stretch”. North Carolina will be a major battleground state come November, and Harris did her best to swing voters in the area.
