Call Logs from Trump on January 6th are Missing

There have been discrepancies within the White House logs when it comes to calls made by former President Donald Trump. This discovery was made by the House panel investigating the January 6, 2021 insurrection.

If you’re unfamiliar with what this event was, it was when a mob of around 2,500 of Trump’s supporters attacked the Capitol. The goal of this attack was to overturn the 2020 election, something in which Trump consistently talked about very passionately on social media. He even went as far as to accuse his own Vice President, Mike Pence, of being able to overturn the election.

During the hours of the attack, it was noted that Trump was making phone calls, yet there was a lack of records of calls made by him in the logs. It has yet to be discovered by investigators whether or not records have been tampered with.

Trump was known to use his phone and not the official forms of communication. The reason the lack of phone records from Trump is an issue is because it is in question what he was doing whilst the attack was happening. It took hours before he told his supporters to stop attacking the capitol as well.

There is also a case of Trump taking boxes of presidential records after he left the office. These records are allegedly classified documents. Due to the severity of the situation and Trump’s unwillingness to return the documents, it was announced that an investigation on the possibility of violations of the President Records Act is underway.
