Famed American novelist, Diana Gabaldon, was born January 11, 1952. Oldest child to parents Antonio Gabaldon and Jacqueline Syke, Gabaldon was raised alongside her sister, Theresa, in the city of Flagstaff, located in Arizona.
Despite earning a B.S. in Zoology, an M.S in Marine Biology, and even a Ph.D. in Behavioral Ecology, Gabaldon has always held a love of reading and storytelling. Often described as an active reader, Gabaldon shifted career paths when she decided she wanted to learn the craft of writing novels at the age of 35. Interests rooted in science fiction, romance, and even mystery, Gabaldon branched out and experimented with many different genres until she found fame in the Outlander novel series.
With her bravery and dedication to the craft of writing, Gabaldon is a testament that it is never truly too late to begin something. From seemingly wanting to learn the craft of writing to suddenly becoming one of America’s famed authors, Gabaldon is living proof that one is never past one’s time to follow a new dream.
