Drake’s response to Kendrick Lamar’s diss tracks is pathetic. (Op-Ed)

Kendrick Lamar released three stunning, excoriating diss tracks over the weekend that brought the truth to light; Drake has a daughter that he has kept secret from the world. It seems that when Drake gets into arguments with rappers, he spawns another child. He is never beating the deadbeat dad allegations, oh no. Since “The Story of Adidon,” a diss track that Pusha T put out against Drake that revealed he had a son, it appears that rappers are fed up with Drake and his false image. Lamar accuses Drake of being a pedophile quite directly, rapping the line “Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophile.” Drake’s engagement with minors has been a topic we were all waiting for Lamar to address, and Lamar did not pull any punches. What did Drake come back with? “The Heart Part 6,” a track that waves a white flag while simultaneously arguing that if he had done anything inappropriate with minors, he’d be in jail. It’s a real “Nuh-uh, I didn’t,” response.

Drake does not possess an ounce of the lyrical talent that Lamar imbues into every track. His response is weak, boring to listen to, and full of the most incoherent claims. First, he implies that Lamar was abused as a child and that is why he is the way he is. Lamar was not the one who was abused, but rather his mother faced sexual abuse. Drake cannot even get the facts straight, and it’s a cruel remark to make regardless.

Many people who sexually abuse children are free – they get away with it and the cycle of abuse continues. For Drake to claim that he isn’t a pedophile simply for the fact that he is not in jail is ridiculous. Not to mention the fact that Drake expressly brought up Millie Bobby Brown’s name, which Lamar did not mention once in his diss tracks. It’s a bit strange to bring that up when no one mentioned her.

Drake’s track is uninspired and boring, especially near the end when there is only silence and Drake’s whiny voice begging Lamar to stop. He doesn’t admit to having a daughter, but internet sleuths have already uncovered a possible child. Allegedly, on a radio interview, Drake mentioned welcoming a baby girl into the world. Many people remember this statement.

Lamar has been silent since Drake released his defeated plea for the feud to end, but I guarantee that Lamar has a few more tracks in the barrel ready to fire. There was a picture posted of Lamar in the studio, so we can expect another track any day now. Drake’s diss tracks have performed poorly, whereas Kendrick’s “euphoria” and “Not Like Us” are fighting with each other for the number one spot on the charts. Keep going, K Dot, finish him!
