Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson returns to WWE

A surprise cameo Monday night has left many WWE fans clamoring for more. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson returned to the stage in a surprise appearance on the first Monday episode of WWE Raw in San Diego, California.

According to WWE, the star interrupted popular WWE wrestler Jinder Mahal’s rant on the current political state of the United States, slinging insults and self-deprecating jabs over his recent failing at the movie box office in the last few years.

Additionally, after winning a short scuffle with Mahal, The Rock made jabs at his cousin Roman Reigns, considered to be WWE’s universal champion, hinting at a possible fight between the wrestlers.

“I’m going to go get something to eat. When ‘The Rock’ goes out to get something to eat tonight in San Diego, should ‘The Rock’ sit in a booth? Or, should ‘The Rock’ sit at the bar? Or, should ‘The Rock’ sit at the head of the table?” said Johnson.

This has been Johnson’s first WWE appearance since September 2023, where he teased his return in WWESmackDown.

Johnson calling out Roman Reigns generated a wave of fan speculation on the date of the supposed fight. While no confirmation by WWE has been made, many theorize it could take place at the Elimination Chamber 2024 event on February 24 in Perth, Australia, or during WrestleMania 40 on April 6-7 in Philadelphia, according to Sports Illustrated.
