It’s the start of the new year and with that, comes excitement for all the new music that might come from your favorite artists. This year is already looking like it might be another great one as this January seems poised to start this year off with a bang. I’m here today to share with you guys some new music worth being excited about for this month from some of the biggest artists in the game right now.
Dawn FM – The Weeknd
It’s hard to believe that it’s almost two years since Canadian R&B-turned-popstar The Weeknd dropped his last album After Hours. This is mostly due to the fact that we’ve heard everywhere since it dropped and the songs are so good that we can’t stop playing them. Even if we’re not over After Hours, The Weeknd is ready for his next era with Dawn FM.Announced Monday with a cryptic, futuristic video, Dawn FM will feature artists such as Tyler, The Creator, Lil Wayne, and Quincy Jones. The album is set to drop this Friday, January 7th.
Drip Season 4 – Gunna
Gunna is one of my absolute favorites in the game right now. His silky-smooth voice and hypnotic delivery make him one of kind when many of his contemporaries sound like everyone else. So, when the rapper posted a video with a caption that simply said “DS4,” I and many fams alike were ecstatic. This will be a follow-up to Gunna’s highly successful Wunna and the fourth installment in his much-beloved Drip Season series, following up 2018’s Drip Season 3. Gunna plans to drop this the same day as The Weeknd’s Dawn FM, January 7th, which is a win for everyone!
From A Bird’s Eye View – Cordae
A lot has changed for Cordae since he dropped his debut. He started dating a superstar tennis player; received two Grammy nominations and received many cosigns from rap legends. Now he’s preparing to release his much-anticipated follow-up, From A Bird’s Eye View. I believe this album has the potential to possibly be a best-of-the-year contender, if the rapper can live up to the potential he showed on The Lost Boy which got him those two Grammy nominations, one for Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song. Cordae plans to drop the album on January 14th.
