Wednesday night, October 7th, a woman came to the Guardian Angels patrol site in the UWS of Manhattan. She said that she had been groped by a suspect at the West 96th St subway station on Broadway. She had taken a picture of the suspect with her cellphone. She had also filed a report with the NYPD.
That night because she had been a victim of a crime, she, like so many before her, decided that she didn’t want this to happen to anyone else. So she took the first step to become a Guardian Angel. In the meantime we did not immediately rush out with the fliers of the suspect until the NYPD put out an all-points bulletin. https://nypost.com/2020/10/10/nypd-on-the-lookout-for-upper-west-side-subway-groper/
The Guardian Angels immediately sprang into action. We have both an AM and a PM patrol in the UWS because crime has skyrocketed due to the fact that there are now so many homeless and EDP’s in the area. We made up our own flier as you can see and we immediately began to post them in the area and hand them out especially to women in the UWS, both in the streets and in the subway.
In this day and age where the police are not responding as quickly as they used to regarding civilian complaints about crime this is the kind of Guardian Angels rapid response that is needed. Frist, you trust the victims but you must verify their complaint. Second, you post the information on community websites that can reach so many people instantaneously. And lastly, we do what we have always done, put boots on the ground, hand out and post the wanted fliers. That’s how a Guardian Angels patrol can get action and cooperation from the police and community they patrol.

BEWARE OF THE 96TH Street GROPER

The man pictured above is wanted for a “touching incident” that occurred Wednesday morning at the 96th Street “1” subway station on the Upper West Side. The creep grabbed a woman shortly after 10:30am at the station & disappeared after confronted by the horrified woman. The pervert was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, black pants & black sneakers and covered in a salt & pepper beard.
