The new grand marshals for this year’s New York City Pride March were recently revealed by NYC Pride, the event’s nonprofit group. The Grand Marshals announced for this year’s march include Dominique Jackson, Peppermint, Bernie Wagenblast, Bowen Yang, and the group Gays Against Guns, three of whom are trans women
According to NYC Pride’s new Executive Director, Im Lynde, Pride Grand Marshals are individuals who are recognized for their positive impact on their LGBTQ+ community. These individuals often contribute by opening doors in a variety of industries, including entertainment, media, and advocacy.
“…Their visibility alone is worth celebrating, but they are fighting for opportunity, support, and safety for our entire LGBTQIA+ community.” said Lynde.
The NYC Pride March hosts over 2.5 million people in its crowds and often has around 75,000 marchers. Every year, the march takes place on the last Sunday in June in commemoration of the 1969 Stonewall Riots, which started the modern queer rights movement in the United States. The NYC Pride March is considered the largest Pride march in the world.
Each event is surrounded by an official theme, and this year’s official theme is “For All of Us.” The phrase is a popular quote attributed to Stonewall veteran Marsha P. Johnson. This year’s theme implores spectators and the community at large to uplift the most marginalized within the community, particularly nonbinary and transgender people, due to the increasing attacks against them under the current political landscape.
Those who are interested in attending this year’s parade can do so on June 28, 2026.
