Overall Team chemistry has helped my performance… Gleyber Torres

In speaking to Gleyber Torres this morning, the thing that he loves the most about this team is how the players really pull for each other.

When team captain Aaron Judge says that it all starts with Gleyber even though Judge is having one of the greatest seasons any player has ever had tells you something about the makeup of this team.

Juan Soto is said to be a generational player yet he focuses the attention on Gleyber and other supporting cast members.

This kind of attitude has only made Gleyber want to do his best not just for himself but for the overall team.

Even though he’s in a contract year he has not once talked about his contract situation or ever say me … always we… I have known Gleyber since he was 18 years old and I’m proud of him because he has never shied away from his faults as a New York Yankee and has excepted hard criticism like a man.

I am extremely proud of the fact that he understands that being a Yankee will always be as high as you can ever get in all professional sports.

Many years ago he met a little boy with cancer in Tampa Florida. They spent a beautiful morning together talking about everything under the sun. At game time little Zach would say goodbye but not before asking for a favor…. Would you hit a home run for me? Gleyber smiled and said that he would try … The first pitch that he saw he would hit for a home run. After the game he got the ball so that he could hand it to Zack.

Unfortunately, Zach had to leave because he wasn’t well. Zack would die two months later of cancer. That was five years ago. Gleyber will at some point before the season ends finally deliver the baseball to Zach’s parents.

Ladies and gentlemen that’s the Gleyber Torres that I’m proud to say is my friend!
