Ozzy Osbourne had an Album Planned Before His Death

On July 22, 2025, John Michael “Ozzy” Osbourne, the “Prince of Darkness”, a beloved musician and celebrity, passed away at the age of 76. He was the singer, songwriter, and co-founder of the band Black Sabbath. However, recently, it has been revealed that shortly before his death, he had made plans to begin work on a new album.

The reveal came from Zakk Wylde, a longtime guitarist who worked alongside Osbourne. He was recently interviewed by NJ.com, where he revealed Osbourne’s plans for a future album.

“He was texting me, ‘Zakk, let’s do another record. Because I really loved it when you were going through your Allman Brothers, Skynyrd phase when we did ‘No More Tears,’ it’s heavy but it’s more melodic, it’s not pummeling heavy,’” He continues, “So I said, ‘Alright Oz, whatever you want.”

Shortly before his death, Osbourne and Zakk performed on stage once more at the ‘Back to the Beginning’ show, which would be the final time the two would play their old hits together.

“I wasn’t thinking when we were doing the show that this was the last time I’m going to be doing ‘Mama, I’m Coming Home’ with the boss or this is the last time I’m going to play ‘Crazy Train’ with him or anything like that,” Wylde said in a statement. “I was just going, ‘Let’s do this and let’s have a good time,’ like always.”

It is sad to hear that Osbourne was unable to begin his work on what would presumably be his final album decades after his initial run. Ozzy Osbourne was loved by many, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
