Ralph Lauren is said to make a grand appearance at New York Fashion Week after a 4-year absence. Lauren is said to display his latest collection alongside other luxurious brands in the fall, the company confirmed to Barron on Monday.
The show is scheduled for September 8th. Ralph Lauren confirmed, but he declined any further comments.
Ralph Lauren has not been seen at New York Fashion Week since 2019. For those who are unfamiliar, New York Fashion Week happens twice a year –once in the spring and again once in the fall–drawing in lots of press and celebrities in the fanciest of clothing. Photographers capture the most essential moments that have the potential to shape the rest of someone’s career. That said, New York Fashion Week is a pivotal event for designers, models, and photographers –-who often rehearse the show for weeks before the big showcase, and only the top-notch make it in.
Ralph Lauren recently decided to switch paths, cutting ties with its presence in low-end department stores, off-price retailers, and other non-core brands to focus on its luxury products appealing to higher-income consumers. This announcement of returning to New York Fashion Week is another sign yet again from Ralph that the path change is being taken seriously.
The last time Ralph Lauren, the 83-year-old fashion designer, appeared at New York Fashion Week, he brought a collection that was called “Ralph’s Club.” The clothes gave off a classic Le Smoking Silhouette, being the cornerstone of the ready-to-wear collection. With Ralph Lauren’s abstinence, he has held many off-calendar events, including one in Los Angeles and New York. His most recent show took place last October at the Huntington Library, Art Museum, and botanical gardens in San Marino, California, including a showcase of Ralph’s women’s and men’s collections and even children’s wear. Celebrities attended, such as Jennifer Lopez, John Legend, and Diana Keaton.
Before that event, In March 2022, he had another show where he creatively transformed the Museum of Modern Art into a replica of his Fifth Avenue apartment. Traveling back in time and bringing emotion into the creative clothes that we wear was really something special. Tyson Beckford attended, as well as Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid.
