Rihanna’s Disappearance from the Music Industry

Global superstar Rihanna assures fans she has not retired from music, but then where has she been all these years?

Rhianna had switched her focus from her music career to her beauty and fashion businesses, including Fenty Beauty, Fenty Skin, and Savage X Fenty. Her last album, ANTI, was released in January of 2016, meaning she hasn’t released new music in almost a decade.

Regardless of her focus shift, Rihanna still teased new music to fans. Back in April 2024, it was hinted that Rihanna would make a comeback with a new album, but the album has yet to come out. Even the year before, with Rihanna’s Superbowl performance in 2023, fans were hopeful of her return to the music industry.

Rihanna has released eight studio albums: Music of the Sun, A Girl Like Me, Good Girl Gone Bad, Rated R, Loud, Talk That Talk, Unapologetic, and ANTI.

Despite her prolonged absence from releasing a full album, Rihanna’s brief contributions to the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” soundtrack in 2022 served as a slight taste of her talents to her starving fans. The heartfelt song “Lift Me Up,” which paid tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, showcased Rihanna’s emotional depth and vocal prowess and earned her an Academy Award nomination.

In the years since ANTI, Rihanna’s impact has occurred outside of music with her businesses. She has been living a quieter life, bonding with her two sons, RZA and Riot, and her partner, A$AP Rocky.

Despite her leave, Rihanna’s music is still climbing the charts, and fans remain hopeful that 2025 will finally mark her long-awaited return to the music scene.
