Russell Wilson Set to Return to Seattle as Broncos Face Seahawks

Broncos Quarterback, Russell Wilson, is set to make his return to Seattle after a decade as the Seahawk’s starting quarterback and his offseason trade to the Broncos. The question is: How will he be received by the team? Also, how will the Bronco’s offense look with him in charge and under first-year head coach Nathaniel Hackett? Wilson didn’t take a snap in the preseason.

Seahawks player, Geno Smith, is set to begin the season as starting quarterback, which is the first time since 2014. He always waited behind Wilson and never got to play until Wilson suffered a finger injury last season. This made Smith get a taste of being a starter, and he ended up outplaying Drew Lock during the offseason and training camp by making fewer mistakes. It is Smith’s job to open the season, although any mistake could result in Lock taking over.

Many think that if Wilson is going to succeed in Denver, he needs to avoid pass rushers. This was one of his ongoing complaints in Seattle. The Bronco’s offensive line will be tested by up-and-coming star Darrell Taylor and safety Jamal Adams.

Billy Turner, Right Tackle, missed most of the offseason program because of knee surgery, which makes it likely that Calvin Anderson gets to start in his place. Rookie tight end Greg Dulchic has a pulled hamstring, which is common for newcomers at altitude. Rookie Seattle running back Ken Walker III is not expected to be able to play since he underwent surgery for a hernia last month. Cornerback Artie Burns, who was expected to be a starter, has a groin injury and may not be ready to play yet.

The Broncos and Seahawks have not met since 2018, when the Broncos won 27-24 in Denver. Seattle had won the previous two matches, which includes the most famous win in the history of the former AFC West rivals when the Seahawks beat the Broncos in Super Bowl 48.

Wilson is set to join a select group of quarterbacks to start against the Broncos, against which the Seahawks have more than 150 starts.
