Last Wednesday (Aug. 15), it was announced to the world that hip-hop legends Snoop Dogg and Master P have collaborated to come out with a new cereal appropriately named “Snoop Loopz.” The sugary multi-grain breakfast meal is gluten-free, colorful, and chock-full of marshmallows in a classic combination that rivals the likes of General Mills Lucky Charms. On the official website for Snoop Loopz–SnoopLoopz.com–the mascot is described as a blue Siberian husky pup named Ace, who is the “Kobe Bryant of basketball in Doggland.”
In the Instagram post by Master P in which the announcement was originally delivered, the rapper introduces the cereal as him and Snoop “taking over the breakfast game.” Continuing, he writes, “When we say more marshmallows, we mean, you won’t have to go on a treasure hunt looking for marshmallows in Snoop Loopz.” A future Honey Oat flavor was also announced in the post.
The cereal is produced by Broadus Foods, which was co-founded by Snoop Dogg and Master P this year. The company, which is family-owned and based in California, uses Snoop Dogg’s real last name and produces grits, maple syrup, pancake mix, and oatmeal under the banner of “Momma Snoop”–an homage to Snoop Dogg’s late mother, Beverly Tate. The company is an active supporter and giver to charitable organizations such as Door of Hope and aims to give back to communities each time a customer purchases a Brodus Foods product.
According to the Broadus Foods website, the company is “a movement to making a difference in the lives of families and communities. We stand for integrity, hard work, and giving back. We strive to provide foods that are deliciously made with the highest quality. Broadus Foods was founded to continue Mama Snoop’s legacy of her generous love and passion for feeding families in our communities.”
At the time of writing, the cereal has not yet gone on sale, but an official release date is expected very soon.
