In speaking to Earl Stroman the father of Marcus Stroman the newest Yankee pitcher, the first thing out of his mouth was… Are your sons staying safe?
The reason for that is because he is a retired Suffolk County police officer. He more than most understands the dangers that my sons face every day. Earl retired as a detective and my son Jon- Erik who is a sergeant always said how great it was to have had the opportunity to of worked with him.
The thing that I admire so much about Earl is how he understands the importance of being a father.
How communication with his family is a key in helping his kids develop as strong adults.
With that being said I was not surprised when Earl showed me the two books that his son Marcus has written.
We as fans know what Marcus has done on the ball field however the fact that he has written books for our young people is something that excites me, especially with the fact that I’m a book author myself.
The names of the books are…The Grip and the other book is called The Spin.
These books deal with kids believing in themselves etc.
The fact that Marcus has been a star on the baseball diamond, the subjects that he talks about in his books can only help our children.
His message to our kids will encourage them to understand that they too can achieve success in life.
I have been a fan of Marcus since he was a Toronto Blue Jay and always talked to his dad about the possibility of his son someday being a Yankee.
I’m excited for the kids of the city, especially the Bronx and also Long Island because that’s where he is from and he knows that those kids will be rooting for him.
I never knew that Marcus was an author and can’t wait to see him pitch some great games and then come to some schools and read his books to the kids.
At the same time, I’m excited at the fact that we will see Marcus write new books about his time as a Yankee.
