Music has always been a huge part of our society and our identities. It’s everywhere, and most of us are very particular about what kind we want to listen to. It’s also been the case that different genres produce diverse reactions. We identify parts of our personalities based on what we listen to, which in turn makes us insinuate things about other people based on their personal music preferences. Some of the basic stereotypes that come to mind are: people that listen to rap music are troublemakers that like to do drugs, people who listen to country music are dumb and drink a lot of beer, and people who listen to classical music are boring and usually very smart.
Patrick Haggerty, Pioneering Gay Country Star, Dies at 78
Patrick Haggerty, the trailblazing gay icon and country music star who led the industry-defying band Lavender Country, has died at the age of 78. Haggerty’s social media accounts report that the musician had suffered a stroke several weeks ago, which led to complications that caused his death. Paradise of Bachelors, the label that re-issued Lavender Country’s debut album, was the first to confirm the news on Twitter: “We are heartbroken to confirm that Patrick Haggerty, the visionary songwriter, dauntless activist, and irrepressible raconteur of Lavender Country, passed away at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends.”

His intention is to expand the supplies from the home country for electronics. There has been controversy surrounding the “Snow Princess” also known as Eileen Gu and China’s patriotism towards her. Gu is a 18-year-old U.S. born freestyle skier for the Chinese team. She is considered a prominent figure for China at the Winter Olympics. Gu was able to win gold at the Beijing 2022 games.

Wednesday night was one of the biggest nights of the year for country music: the 2021 CMT Music Awards. CMT stands for Country Music Television, so the awards primarily focus on music videos. Young country stars Kane Brown and Kelsea Ballerini hosted the show, which featured the presentation of nine awards and a ton of showstopping musical performances.
John Mayer Releases New Single and Music Video
In anticipation for his upcoming album in July, soft rock singer John Mayer has released his first single in nearly two years, “Last Train Home.”
The single released with a music video that premiered on YouTube on Friday. In a vintage style video, Mayer spends most of his time behind a mic playing a pink guitar, with his band playing alongside him. Country Music Star Morgan Wallen Cancels Summer Shows
On Tuesday, April 13, country music star Morgan Wallen announced via his Instagram that he would be
cancelling all of his scheduled shows for the upcoming summer.
Wallen has been out of the spotlight since February 2021 due to a leaked video of him using racial slurs
and profanity. Wallen apologized for his comments and has vowed to improve himself.
In his Instagram post, which depicts a handwritten letter to his fans, Wallen thanks his fans and
supporters for sticking by his side, apologizes for his past mistakes and explains what he’s been going
