2022

2022 has been the year of movies. With films being released almost every few weeks, everyone is hitting up the movie theaters to watch the newest movies. But there is nothing like a good book to movie adaptation, and here are some to keep an eye out for in  2022.

Where The Crawdads Sing (Delia Owens)

Released to theaters on July 13 2022, ‘Where The Crawdads Sing’ is based on a best selling book by Delia Owens.

The story takes place in two different timelines set in the 1950’s and 1969. The first timeline follows a young girl named Kya who has to take care of herself after her mother and siblings abandon her. The second timeline finds an adult Kya now intertwined with a murder case. Filled with action and romance, the film does a great job bringing to life the book.

Heartstopper (Alice Oseman)

‘Heartstopper’ by Alice Oseman shows the relationship between Charlie and Nick, two school boys who unexpectedly fall for each other. Although it was adapted into a Netflix series, we are still counting it on the list! It’s a beautiful story which will certainly warm your heart.

Salem’s Lot (Stephen King)

Who doesn’t love a good Stephen King book to movie adaptation? This book tells the story of a small New England town invaded by vampires. It’s about Ben, a troubled writer who heads back home to Maine, where his childhood demons transform into real ones. He bands together with a group of locals to fight the evil vampires. This book to movie adaptation is set to hit theaters on Sept. 9.

No Exit (Taylor Adams)

Turned into a Hulu Original, the book tells the story of a young woman named Darby who is caught in a blizzard in the Colorado mountains on her way to see her sick mother. During this, Darby witnesses a young girl locked in an animal crate inside of a van and decides to figure out who her abductor is. The film, just like the book, does a great job keeping audience members on the edge of their seat.

The School for Good and Evil (Soman Chainani)

Based on a children’s novel, the book tells the story of a girl named Sohpie who plans on joining the School for Good, while Agatha is better fit for the School for Evil– then both discover their fortunes have been reversed. The movie adaptation of this novel is set to hit theaters on Oct. 21
